Our ‘Plant yourself Carbon Neutral’ competition is now live to residents in the North East of Scotland.

This is a chance to cancel your carbon footprint for 2020. The new ‘Plant yourself Carbon Neutral’ competition combines advice and information on how to reduce your carbon emissions, with the opportunity to win £500 worth of trees planted in your name – more than offsetting your personal carbon emissions for the coming year.

With the average Briton producing approx. 10 tonnes of CO2 a year Home Energy Scotland will offset the emissions by working with local conservation charity, Trees for Life and planting 66 trees at a cost of £500.

Or course, carbon offsetting is just one way to take responsibility for your carbon emissions, we will help you find lots of ways to make your home more comfortable and travel more sustainably.

David Mackay, Centre Manager with Home Energy Scotland North East said: ‘Climate change is recognised as an immediate and urgent problem, so while we will continue to offer our telephone service which offers advice how to cut carbon, we wanted to do something a little different to try and capture the public’s imagination.

‘A competition offering people in the North East the chance to offset their carbon emission while promoting positive environmental behaviour seemed like an ideal way of getting our message across. We’ve teamed up with Trees for Life to offer this fantastic chance to offset your carbon by having 66 trees planted in your name.’

Entering the competition is easy, simply answer three multiple choice questions online here. If you win you can kick start your carbon neutral lifestyle with the help of Home Energy Scotland and Trees for Life!
