Case Study: Creating a greener home

Man next to an electric car

Through accessing our services at Home Energy Scotland, Leon was able to install Solar PV, battery storage and a home electric vehicle charge point all using the Scottish government interest free loans and government incentives.

Solar PV

Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells.

These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day.

The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.

Battery Storage

Energy storage systems, also known as batteries or thermal stores, allow you to capture heat or electricity when it is readily available, typically from a renewables system, and save it until a time when it is useful to you.

Since installation, Leon has joined the Green Homes Network. This enables customers who are interested in renewables to “come and see for yourself”, where the owner can talk you through all the advantages, the actual costs, and their installation journey.

Our free specialist services can help you decide which renewables systems are right for you and your home, and at the moment the Scottish Government is funding interest-free loans of up to £17,500 per household to help with the cost of installation.
