Get on your eBike – Arran

Woman on an eBike

Community organisation Arran Eco Savvy recently borrowed one of our step-through ebikes for a month so they could help locals (including staff) have a go and find out more about ebikes.

This meant that people in Arran could take it home and use it to see if it would fit in with their day. Arran is notoriously hilly so the ebike (which adds a bit of extra ‘oomph’ to your own pedal power) meant they could tackle hills that they wouldn’t normally manage on a traditional push bike, making more parts of Arran accessible to all.

Eco Savvy Project Manager Jude said: “I recently tried an ebike through Home Energy Scotland and can’t recommend it enough. As well as being a quick and easy option for travel, I under-estimated the benefits for health and fitness and got surprisingly addicted. The added bonus is that you are making a proactive effort towards environmental improvement in your local community.

Eco Savvy has also successfully secured funding so that local businesses can make use of a fleet of six ebikes.

If you would like to experience an ebike first-hand, Home Energy Scotland deliver short-term ebike trials lasting from three days to three weeks (subject to availability). To arrange a trial, please call 0808 808 2282.

If you are considering purchasing an ebike the Energy Saving Trust offers an interest-free loan  to help with initial costs. These loans are funded by Transport Scotland (an agency of the Scottish Government) and are subject to terms and conditions.

So go on – give it a go with a free trial from Home Energy Scotland!
