Ways you can start saving money at home
Insulating your home – it’s important to keep the heat in your home so it’s warmer and healthier for you to live in. If you have no loft insulation, installing 270mm of new insulation can really help retain heat in your home. It could also save you up to £230 a year on your energy bills.
Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) let you control the temperature of each radiator, so you can have the rooms you’re in warmer than the rooms you’re not using.
Water – using hot water is about 11% of a typical homes energy costs. Why not make sure you switch to a water-efficient shower head and you could save £25 a year on your hot water costs (not suitable for electric showers).
Green Homes Network – click here to read about experiences from people living in Scotland who have installed energy efficient improvements and renewable measures in their home.
The easiest way to begin making your home more comfortable is to take a Home Energy Check and find out what changes you can start making.
