Scotland’s Climate Week 2025
Scotland's Climate Week 2025
Learn about Scotland’s Climate Week and how communities, businesses and individuals across Scotland are taking action on climate change.

Scotland’s Climate Week is back once again to celebrate the efforts of communities, schools, businesses and individuals taking action on climate change. Celebrating our collective successes is an important part of positive action towards the climate crisis and shows us all how to go further.
Climate action is already happening all across Scotland
Did you know that 60% of changes needed to reach net zero require people to change their habits? This means every small action counts towards our effort to reduce the effects of climate change. From families making small daily changes, to businesses transforming how they work, to community groups working together – climate action is happening in every part of the country.
How you can take action
Start where you are
Taking action doesn’t have to involve making big changes to your existing lifestyle. Simple habits such as using your car less and buying less or second-hand are not only good for the planet, but can help you save money and benefit your wellbeing in the long run.
Some simple changes you can make include reducing, recycling, reusing and repairing. While recycling is important, you can have a much bigger impact if you repair and upcycle. For example, you could reupholster your sofa instead of getting a new one, get your phone refurbished before ordering a new one or replace a broken zip on your jeans instead of throwing them away. This also supports a circular economy.
Make simple changes at home to save energy
Around one fifth of Scotland’s emissions come from heating our homes and buildings. This means that making your home more energy efficient is one of the best ways you can help reduce Scotland’s carbon emissions. Improving your home heating system and insulation will not only help to keep the heat in but will cut your energy bills too.
There are lots of quick, easy and low-cost ways to save energy and money at home. For example, turning your thermostat down one degree, reducing your shower time by a minute, or making sure you don’t leave gadgets on standby will all cut your energy use and save you money.

Join your climate community
Joining a community or group to act against climate change is a great way to stay motivated and make a bigger impact. Community climate action hubs offer advice, funding support, and connections to help you start or grow your own project.
You can also get involved through local initiatives like Climate Cafés, share and repair networks, food growing groups, and sustainable travel schemes. Whether you're reducing waste, saving energy, or educating others, there’s a network ready to support your journey to a greener future.
